Weekend in Parc National des Pingualuit

Departures are possible from the northern villages of Kuujjuaq or Kangiqsujuaq.

You will have 3 days to discover the iconic Pingualuit crater and its typical arctic panoramas. The areas are perfect for hiking, canoe or kayak trips, motorboat trips on Lake Manarsulik or fishing on the banks of the Vachon River. Guided or autonomous, you can enjoy the unique landscapes of our most northern Park.

What's included ?

The weekend includes the flights to the Park (either from Kuujjuaq or Kangiqsujuaq), 2 nights a Manarsulik camp and our guides on site.

Breakfasts, lunches, suppers and snacks are not included. Manarsulik camp is fully equipped to prepare meals (stove and cookware).

What can I do there ?

During the weekends, your guides will be a great resources to point out the best activities depending on the weather and your experience.

HIKING

A few hikes are possible from Manarsulik camp. You can hike to the top of the crater ridge (5km back and forth), go all the way down to the water (7km back and forth) or do the full day hike around the crater ridge (22km). Also, all the shores of Manarsulik lake are lovely to follow and easier to walk. Finally, you can hike up to the Vachon River to follow its banks.

FISHING

For non-beneficiaries that want to fish, make sure you have your provincial fishing licence prior contacting the Park to get your Park's fishing licence. You will have to bring you own fishing rod and fishing hooks. All catches must be consumed on-site, except for a single catch which may be transported out of the park. IMPORTANT: Fishing or swimming in Pingualuk lake (crater) is strictly prohibited as it’s an extreme preservation zone.

KAYAKING

There is some kayaks and life jackets that you may borrow at Manarsulik camp to explore the surroundings on the Lake.

How do I register ?

Weekends reservations are made on the first Monday of the month of June. You may call the Park at 819-338-3282 . The line may be busy, since we usually receive a good amount of calls but, please, don't give up and try again, our dedicated team will answer you shortly.

What are the facilities ?

Manarsulik camp has three camps are located beside Manarsulik Lake. Each camp has 2 private be-drooms, one dorm, one livingroom, one bathroom and one all-equiped kitchen. There is no running water in the camp. The toilets are all dry toilets managed by our staff.

There is running water for the dishes but not for the toilets. It is advised that you get information from a Park employee before departure to make sure that the services and the available equipment fit your needs.
